Land of Eternal Youth (Tir na N'og)
Artists often talk about the "Mediterranean Light" as having a profound effect on their art. But the cloudy and misty skies of Ireland with their sudden sunbursts and shafts of light seem wonderfully attractive to me. And when you work in so many shades of gray you can really begin to understand luminosity.
These Irish lakes are the site of the wonderful myth of Niamb Cinn tir (Niamb of the Golden Hair) who while riding on her beautiful white horse absconded with Oisin (Son of Fionn mac Cunhail) to live with her beneath the surface in the land of eternal youth (Tir na N'og).
