St. Katharine Docks

Nostalgia for a Forgotten Era

St. Katharine Docks were once commercial docks serving the City of London and were an important center in the export of British manufactured goods.

I can't really remember what motivated me to choose the subject. Possibly it was just a playful spoof on the arrogance of British Imperialism in the Thirties. I think the idea of the docks came from a photo in National Geographic Magazine. The Rolls Royces were just plain fun to paint.

One can see into the crates and each crate holds a city.
