A Venetian Fantasy

Santa Maria della Salute floats over stairs that lead down to the Grand Canal. Two young girls (relatives of mine from the 1930's) have just arrived from a motor launch at the foot of the stairs. Venetian glass, seashells and jewelry lie scattered below the Torre de'Orologio and the Palazzo Santa Sofia. The Doge's Palace and other buildings along the Grand Canal are recognizable. Modern boats mingle with craft from Canaletto's time. The Dolomite Mountains form a backdrop behind the columns.
